I just tried to upload my new Island and it says I can't as I have the same settings.ino file as an existing one.

I finished 1 island

I started a second one and then realised it was going to take a lot longer than the first one to finish.

I hit new game

Pocket highsores now shows islands 1 and 3 but not 2

what have I done???

In fact I can't find a settings.ino file anywhere

aarrrggghhhhh

Hi Nossac!

Let me explain how system works:

When you starting the new game and uploading  your current uncompleted island - you will always see it in the top of your islands list.

When you've completed your island it will be added to your islands list and marked on the islands map as completed.
If you will try to use backuped setting.ino file from completed island for completing another one island - you will get error.

OLD UNCOMPLETED ISLANDS are NOT stored in your islands list!  It's a simple rule - if you can't complete island on the map and start a new one - the uncompleted island is not more yours. It will be used for other volunteers.

Remember that's our idea is the build whole islands world thogether. So if you can't repair some island - it will be done by another islands master.

Hi Dennis smile,

That bit I understand. But it doesn't quite fit...maybe it does and I'm just to tired to understand.

1st Island was upload as I progressed.

2nd Island was started but never uploaded. I decided I had messed it up bad enough just to start again. I did copy the whole Air Islands folders and sub folders to a different place on my SD card.

I then started a new game.

Now if I look in the correct AirIslands directory I can't see a settings.ino file. However if I look in the 'backup' folder I have one.

When the scores software uploads the score to the PC I can see results for Islands 1 and 3 but nothing for Island 2.

So why do I not have a settings.ino file in the istall directory. I pulled my whole SD card onto my PC and did a scan and I only have 1 settings.ino file on my PPC.

Does that all fit in with what you said earlier?

If so sorry.

Do I have to do a reinstall to make it all work?

Thanks

As I've said before....Great Games

The settings.ino file is not used for islands uploading. All your progress saving in special files placed in AirIslands directory. Pathes to this files stored in the registry, so if you have a duplicate of Spb AirIslands directory on your PPC then only results from original directory will be used for uploading.

Normally when you starting a new island all previous uncompleted islands files are deleting. Only data files of completed islands is stored in this case.

So if you've completed your 1st islands, then have started uncomleted island2, then have started island 3 and it's still in progress, then you will see island1 and island3 in PocketHighscores. Islands2 is not existing anymore and you will not see it in islands list.

If you sure that island1 was in progress at the moment when you've started island2, and you still have island1 in PC app - then that's a bug. If so please contact  me by e-mail <den[at]softspb[dot]com> and we will try to find solution of problem.

Thanks!

DOH.......

Totaly my fault I worked out exactly what I was doing wrong.

When Pocket High Scores uploads you scores from the PPC there are little check boxes byt the side of each score to be uploaded.

I had Island 1 and Island3 ticked. When I had it like this it would not upload the scores.

However....

When I unticked Island 1 and just left Island 3 ticked it all worked fine.

I think this was a good example of an ID ten T error.

ID10T if you didn't get it smile

It's from mistakes we learn, Nossac. That doesn't make one an ID10...
